STRUCTURAL INSULATED PANELS

How homes are built has changed dramatically over the years. Today, advanced building materials such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are engineered to provide the tightest building envelope possible for more durable, energy-efficient homes with the least impact on the environment.

SIPs are high performance building panels used in walls and roofs. The panels are made by sandwiching a core of rigid foam insulation between two structural skins of oriented strand board (OSB). SIPs are manufactured under factory controlled conditions and are custom designed for each home. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective.

SIPs create a continuous whole-wall system without the thermal bridging, breaks, or air infiltration that is present in wood framed homes. The foam insulation used in SIPs is extremely effective because it is solid and consistent throughout the home. The panels form a tight building envelope that reduces energy costs.

Other Benefits:

A tighter and better insulated building envelope allows for the use of smaller HVAC equipment so your home will use less energy.

SIP homes have consistent room to room temperatures and reduced thermal stratification resulting in increased overall comfort.
